after decades in the making finders keepers records present the first-ever pressing of serge gainsbourg’s most elusive and coveted soundtrack studio recordings co-written, arranged and orchestrated by the genius jean-claude vannier (histoire de melody nelson) during what many consider to be the dynamic duo’s most definitive creative period.

...and in the end, not a great deal is known about the spanish duo futuro. the saga begins with the discovery of a cache of test pressings deep within the shelves of a very dusty record shop near the plaza del toros de valencia. as is the case with these things there was no promo sheet or any other information outside of three clues etched into the run-out groove: futuro, jollyman, mcmlxxxvii. through deduction and reasoning it was soon realised that jollyman was a short lived italian record label that closed it s doors in 1987. there were rumours for a while that jollyman was a mafia wedding gift to a music enthused female family member, but as the journey continued it became slightly more likely that this was a tax write-off for it s owners, as the label itself was never very successful, and was more likely an afterthought rather than a full on passion project. that is not to say that there were not gems hidden within it s small catalogue, most notably from noted library musician, composer and arranger alessandro signoretti, without whose help this release would not be presently in front of you. alessandro s assistance led us to the infamous hafenklang studio in hamburg, germany. the very same studio used by boytronic to record their classic lp the continental (some of the same dx presets can easily be heard on both albums) and despite the insane amounts of musicians that have passed through those doors the owner clearly remembered the duo and finally the mysterious futuro had names: javier c rayón and raúl láynez.

too late for the italo boom, and too early for the sonido de valencia craze, the recordings of futuro have sat on master tapes since 1987 finally awaiting their much deserved audience. bordello a parigi are more than proud to present this lost late slow-mo synthesizer italo masterpiece onto the world.

ron dj skull maney is a legend. nrg music dropped in 1991 on chicago s saber label and cemented his rep as one to watch over the coming years. one of chicago s new wave of producers with a fierce style and original sound. the original press of nrg music was super lo-fi and that suited maney s sound. his blend of jacking box jams, deep pads, porno samples and nasty ass acid lines all complement each other on what is one of the era s most unique ep s. those who know recognise that skull s music over the years has always been essential listening material and this, his first ep, is a heavyweight signifier of what was to come! across 6 tracks we get a surprising cache of styles, from the sleazed out redlight action of nasty girl to the driving, demented minimalism of the raft it s all here, plain as day, one for the heads, the connoisseurs and the freaks. the real deal! reissued and remastered with the full permission of trax/saber records we have another gem from the annals of chicago house history for 2017. do not sleep!

julien sabre and konstress blind box label is branching out with a new sublabel entitled blind box basic, which seeks to explore a more minimalistic approach to the dance floor. in order to get things rolling, they re turning to chris carrier and his monsieur georget alias for three tracks of on-point, rolling house grooves. carrier s experience in handling heads down tracks is evident throughout, from the insistent surge of geogette to the hazy tones of balade sur le chemien de fer, while mais ou se cache donc le zebu heads straight to freaked out minimal territory.

fuckthegovernment.ltd, a.k.a. f.t.g (alfredo trastulli) and music box head honcho, marco riff, return to the skylax fold in 2016 with a cache of house nuggets for our listening pleasure. their last venture on skylax saw f.t.g collaborate with a bunch of his friends, resulting in some of the best tracks we’d heard all year, including the unforgettable fuckthegovernment theme. their tracks have been celebrated and hailed by some of the best djs in the game, names such as derrick may, ricardo villalobos, raresh, and dj harvey. the bar set by the first record remains sky high, and somehow, these two manage to raise the bar even higher. it may be the biggest cliche going when talking about an album, but the duo certainly do take us on a journey, through the past and present of house music. it’s a record not too dissimilar in tone to paranoid london’s from a few years back, but f.t.g and marco strip things back even further than those guys did, in our opinion, the sound is more raw with less frills, and no track names to predispose feelings in the listener either. this eight track project is cohesive and elaborate, with movements through sounds both acid and jazzy, minimal and maximal. it explores sounds that came to prominence in famous house locales such as detroit and chicago over in the u.s., but the underground european influence is definitely present, from paris to berlin, and of course f.t.g and marco’s home of italy. with this album, these guys add to the underground sound that has cultivated in the city of perugia for years now, a place that has seen the likes of simoncino and nicholas hone their craft.don’t miss out on a piece of skylax history

as a member of chairlift, the band he co-founded in 2006 and exited in 2010, aaron pfenning pulled double (and triple) duty – playing multiple instruments, writing songs, producing, and contributing vocals for the band s major label debut. that comfort with musical multitasking – and a cache of songs he d written that didnt fit his main project – made a new solo effort seem like the natural and logical next step to take. pfenning assumed the name rewards (a moniker hes actually used since 2003), spent the better part of last year touring with we are scientists, brandon flowers and warpaint, and released three broodingly romantic singles (>i used to<, >what a loser< and the achingly beautiful >two cardinals<) that made a host of listeners take sudden notice
